Christmas Freehand Ink Inspo

Posted on

Christmas is coming, and if you want to really get into the holiday spirit, it’s time to ink yourself with a Christmas-inspired tattoo.  Start with a bottle of our freehand ink and get inspired by one of these festive designs:

Snow Globe

Do you have jingle bells constantly stuck in your head? Have you been dreaming of a white Christmas? Check out the video below to see how we drew a snow globe with our freehand ink!

Poinsettia

The unofficial flower of Christmas, poinsettias immediately conjure sentiments of holiday cheer.  Accent your Christmas outfit with a gorgeous poinsettia design like this one, and you’ll be partying in style.

Christmas Tree

A small Christmas tree like this one is the perfect way to add a little understated pizazz to your Christmas ensemble.  Keep the tree small to enhance peek-a-boo placement behind the ear. Accent your pine with a star on top, or opt for bare minimalism.

Naughty / Nice

Employ your lettering skills to ink “Naughty” and “Nice” on your arms like this.  Fold your arms for some great photo ops at the family Christmas party.  Go a step farther and bring your bottle of freehand ink to the holiday soiree and treat your nieces and nephews to lettering as well.  You’ll get major aunt or uncle points.

Reindeer

Santa’s most trusted employees, reindeer are the magical, flying animals of the season.  This small tattoo is a perfect example of optimal placement, using the middle finger and shape of the hand to perfectly display the reindeer’s antlers.

Snowflake “Tights”

This year, ditch your pantyhose and ink your legs with an array of snowflakes (or Christmas ornaments, or Christmas stockings) for a festive way to accessorize.  Copy this look, or use it as inspiration for your own leggy design.

If you doubt your artistic ability and would rather work with pre-made designs, we offer a number of snowflake designs in our collection, below:

Merry X-Mas

Kick it old school with this Sailor Jerry-inspired Christmas design.  It’s easy to copy and perfect for the holiday.

Baby Jesus

If you strip away all the pomp and circumstance, Christmas is, at its core, a Christian holiday celebrating the birth of Jesus.  If the commercial side of Christmas comes second to the religious aspect of the holiday to you, consider a tattoo of the Virgin Mary and Baby Jesus.  This tattoo takes an interesting Polynesian approach to mother and child, making for a truly unique design to imitate this Christmas season.  If you’d prefer a pre-designed tattoo from our collection, now’s the perfect time to scoop up our cross tattoo, below.

Christmas Movie Tattoos

The Nightmare Before Christmas

This classic holiday film explores the adventures of Halloweentown’s Pumpkin King Jack Skellington, who kidnaps Santa Clause in an effort to take over Christmas.  If this Tim Burton-produced project is one of your favorites, consider copying one of these designs this Christmas season:

A Christmas Story

A Christmas Story is not just a Christmas movie, but an American classic.  The misadventures of child hero Ralphie set against the backdrop of a Midwestern winter season are hilarious and nostalgic.  Ink one of the film’s most memorable aspects—from the infamous “leg lamp” to a bar of soap to “wash your mouth out”—and you’ll feel warm and merry all winter long.  We give this theme an A+, +, +, +…

The Grinch Who Stole Christmas

This classic book-turned-movie from Dr. Seuss beautifully teaches us that Christmas is about love, hammered home when the Grinch’s heart grows three sizes in one day.  Honor this beloved classic by drawing a Grinch-inspired tattoo this season, like these artful options:

Left | Center | Right

Love Actually

This beloved ensemble romantic comedy starring Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson, Colin Firth, and approximately a million other amazing actors, explores the ups and downs of romantic love at the Christmas season.  It builds to the conclusion that “love, actually, is all around.”  Ink yourself with this iconic movie phrase like this to remind yourself that if you open your eyes, you’ll see love all around you.
