Tattoos For Your Halloween Costume

Posted on

With Halloween right around the corner, it’s time to start planning your costume. Although we might be distracted by the leaves changing colors, PSL and breaking out our favorite fall sweaters, don't get stuck the week before Halloween without a clue what you're being. This year, add a temporary tattoo to your ensemble for extra flair. inkbox looks and feels like a real tattoo, so you can really trick your friends - what a treat! Check out these costume ideas that feature our semi permanent ink:

1) Death Eater

Are you a Harry Potter fan who’s too edgy to go as Harry or Hermione?  Go as a Death Eater, and ink yourself with our Morsmordre tattoo—aka the “Dark Mark”— to complete your look.  The name of the tat comes from the spell that causes the Dark Mark to appear in the sky.  Here’s hoping it doesn’t appear on Halloween.

Morsmordre4.25 x 1.5 inches, $23

2) Slytherin

For another Harry Potter costume, consider going as a member of Slytherin.  Although this Hogwarts house churned out an impressive list of dark magic-loving villains, it did produce Severus Snape, who turned out to be quite the good guy, proving you can’t judge a book by its cover.  If you’re studying parseltongue in your spare time and want to honor Hogwarts’ snake-mascot house or channel your inner Draco Malfoy, throw on some green and silver and ink yourself with our Mamba tattoo to complete your Slytherin look.

3) Robot

Let's face it... with wearable technology, self-driving cars, Siri/Alexa... it's a scary thought that Artificial Intelligence is going to take over. If you’re going as a robot this October 31st, consider these two tattoos in our collection to complete your look:

4) Drake

Going as rapper/Degrassi star Drake this Halloween?  Don’t forget our tats ‘6’ and Schemin’.  “The 6” refers to Toronto, aka Drake’s hometown, a nickname which appears throughout Drake’s lyrics thanks to the city’s two main area codes: 416 and 647. On the cover for his LP “Views,” Drake can be seen sitting on the CN Tower, depicted in our tattoo. Ink Schemin’ on your calf to match the praying hands Drake has inked on his calf.

6) Daenarys

Given the popularity of Game of Thrones, you’re likely to see plenty of ladies (and gents!) dressed up as the Mother of Dragons this Halloween. Even if you can't remember her full title (Daenerys of the House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, The Unburnt, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Queen of Meereen, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Protector of the Realm, Lady Regnant of the Seven Kingdoms, Breaker of Chains and Mother of Dragons) you can give your costume a leg up with our dragon tattoo, Rhaegal, named for one of her three dragons.

7) Sailor

Going as a sailor this year?  Pair your white hat with one of our nautical tattoos.  Adding a tattoo to your costume is very authentic, as sailors were one of the first modern groups to embrace tattoo culture, often using tattoos to document their travels.

Halloween is also the first day of the three-day celebration the Day of the Dead in Mexico.  Outfits worn to celebrate the Day of the Dead typically involve skeletons, with La Calavera Catrina evolving as the iconic image of the holiday thanks to the early 20th century print by Jose Guadalup Posada, pictured below.  If you’re celebrating Día de Muertos, our skull tattoo, Xylose—named for the sugar found in bones—can accentuate your outfit.

If you’re feeling artistic, grab a bottle of our freehand ink and freehand tattoos to pull off these costume ideas:

1) Miley Cyrus

“Just Being Miley” includes having lots of tattoos.  Check out this diagram for a guide to Cyrus’s ink.  Some of her tats we do have in our catalog: the dreamcatcher on her waist, the crossed arrows on her right elbow, and the anchor on her wrist.  For the rest, time to roll up your sleeves and draw by hand!

2) Rihanna

Rihanna has a lot of tattoos. 25 last time we counted, the most iconic of which is the Egyptian goddess Isis tattooed on her ribcage. Check out this article for a look at all her ink and get ready to work, work, work, work, work…

3) Khal Drogo

Use our freehand ink to complete this simple, rugged Game of Thrones look!

4) Morgan Tookers

Mindy’s sidekick on The Mindy Project did a stint in jail for stealing a car.  To remind himself never to do that again, Morgan tattooed the phrase “No More Stealing Cars” in Celtic lettering on his stomach.  Genius.  For an easy Halloween costume, copy Morgan’s tat with our freehand ink.

5) “No Ragrets”

For another easy lettering costume, grab our ink to become this character from “We’re The Millers.”  Tank top, hat, tattoo, and you’re set.

6) The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo

Rooney Mara plays Lisbeth Salander in the film adaptation of this popular book. Spoiler alert: Lisbeth has a dragon tattoo on her back, which you can recreate with our ink.

Happy Halloween! We'd love to see what you come up with, so be sure you tag us in your pictures @inkbox #inkboxlove #inkbox
